Martin John Kemp is an English actor and musician, best known as the bassist in Spandau Ballet, as well as playing Steve Owen in EastEnders.
At the age of 7 he began to attend the Anna Scher Children’s Theatre drama club with his brother, Gary, and appeared in many TV shows, including Jackanory, The Tomorrow People, and Dixon of Dock Green.
Martin’s life changed when Steve Dagger, the manager of his brother Gary’s band The Gentry, suggested he should replace the band’s bass player. Eventually the band was renamed Spandau Ballet. Spandau Ballet were one of the most successful bands of the 1980s, achieving ten Top Ten singles and four Top Ten albums in the UK, their third album True, topped the charts all around the world.
Martin and his brother Gary returned to acting in 1990, both of them appearing to great acclaim in the British film The Krays in which they played the notorious gangster twins, Ronald and Reginald Kray.

Aw Brains i didnt expect Martin to be third tbh. I thought it would be between Julian and Martin. Oddschecker has slipped up there as it should have been Coleen out. Goes to show we can never tell.
I want it to be Julian to win but I do not mind if it is Coleen, these are the two I have been fighting for. Sorry folks. I know many wanted Martin to win but he is third and that is no disgrace, they have all been so good.

jules its always hard to work out how the votes will go personally i think he was one of the best hms, but you cant take it away from julian, worthy winner

I hoped that Martin would win but he made the mistake of slating Julie to the boys. I think this is what turned the whole show around.
Martin lost some fans and julian picked them up along with julie’s fans.
I think that Julian would have done well through Julie Sal, I agree with that. He would have gained points for caring for her as well. I did feel at one stage though that he would have lost points as with J one either loves her or hates her and the haters would have seen it in a different light.
It is difficult to say with Martin though, I thought BOTS and whoever, were mean to show that as the change and the cause for Js. demise. I can remember someone saying “yes Martin has realised” but in my eyes if he did, he was looking out for the lads being a father himself. Many were pleased that he had spoken. I remember BOTS saying “was this the start of his gameplan?”. It is so easy for them to turn the tide the rotters, the name of the game I suppose.
The only thing I guess is that those who love Julie looked upon him as a stirrer, I didnt think that at all. He certainly is a good man, his son is handsome and a credit to him.
