Denise Welch is an actress and television presenter whose career kick- started when she left London’s Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in 1979. Although she has worked in theatre, Denise is probably best known for her career in television and has appeared in hit dramas such as Auf Wiedersehen Pet, Byker Grove, A Kind of Living and Spender.
In the early nineties, Denise became a household name as she took on the role of Marsha Stubbs in the drama series, Soldier Soldier. Following on from her success in this show, she turned to a music career and released a double-A side single, “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me/Cry Me a River” which remained in the UK singles charts for three weeks.
Denise’s success continued to grow as she was cast as Natalie Horrocks in Coronation Street. A popular character, Natalie rose to landlady the famous Rover’s Return.
Since then, Denise has continued to guest star in shows including Where the Heart Is, Holby City, The Bill, Doctors, Down to Earth, Born and Bred and Hollyoaks and is a firm favourite on British TV screens.
Most recently, Denise is known for her four year long role in the highly successful drama, Waterloo Road. She is also famed for her opinionated personality and for being a regular panellist on the topical chat show, Loose Women.
Denise is married to actor Tim Healy. They have two children.

Oh Dear – Denise, please stay away from the booze. It does you no favours at all, and after a few drinks you are really not very nice – to yourself or the other housemates. Not sure why you have a problem with Michael, but wish you would get over it. Strange how my two favourites on day one are slowly slipping down the scale. Shows you never can judge a book by its cover!!

Sadly Denise is going down the Oddschecker scale, Gareth has overtaken her. Romeo still stays the same, hopefully Gareth will now overtake Natalie. I have to admit that Denise was one of my top three to begin with. The twins are finding favour as well in the polls.

Thanks Jules. I have just been catching up on todays ‘goings-on’ elsewhere – and its not good! The winners of the latest task are immune from this weeks evictions – and they are Frankie and Nicola! So we are stuck with Nicola now. Lots of talk about the Denise/Michael conversation last night. Apparently Denise has challenged Michael to an “act off” – saying she is better than him!!!
I am so sorry that she went on CBB now, as I liked her before and would have voted for her in this series. However, she seems a totaly different person when drinking and has let herself down, in my opinion. Lets hope Michael survives this week, as he is sure to be nominated by Denise, Natalie and Nicola.
Where did you catch up to Sammy, sounds good, I have one or two other places but havent seen anything re the nominations. I did think earlier that Georgia and Michael would be up this next week due to the fact of Natalie and Denise spuddling for them both. Will be interesting to see.

Jules, I always go to digital spy, click on forums, click on big brother, and then see all the “threads” that come up for discussion. Have been a member there for some time, but its not as chatty and friendly as here. However, you can pick up quite a few bits of info, and anyone can read etc without being a member. Always come back here though, for the personal touch!! Otherwise would miss all the crowd – and comments that keep me laughing!
I agree Sammy I used dig last time but I always came back here. We seem to have all united and yet there were many more writing on BB threads here. It is good tbh and I love it. I am absconding from doing any h.work today lol….have been on pc. I love phycology and that is what big brother is all about (obviously) Andrew was very cringe worthy (cusion in front of face) soon as he opened his mouth and it was pure heaven watching him being brought down to earth with a BANG! My next victim was ‘The Wag” unfortunarely she is amune this week. I like Denise and would not like to see her evicted as this phycological programe is entertaining to watch and I would love to watch Denise more, simply because I’m wicked and I want to see her slowly fall to bits when she can’t get her hands on a glass of wine.
I am well into psychology Paula, some of it is so predictable. I fear though that Denise has signed her own demise, now if Michael is saved this week and if he has to recommend the next two housemates up for eviction, I wonder who he will go for. Jules, I wonder if they will follow last weeks format? Somehow I think the producers would not be too keen on Michael as their winner – they may prefer a local, and obviously natali and Denise would be ideal for them? I was surprised and disapointed when I watched bit on the side last night! nobody mentioned how out of order she has been! :/ n even Pete who was always so moral last year didnt have a bad thing to say about her! what the hell is that about???! :S do they get told what they can or something?
Maybe they have backed her to win as she was one of the favourites to begin with. Maybe they have been told to big her up? It is so obvious that she has “bullied” Michael whether it was intentional or not. Had it been the other way around there would have been an uproar and he would have been taken to the diary room. He would have been accused of sexual harassment. When someone says no then that should be taken into consideration, the trying to reveal her bossoms to him the other day was an insult, not a joke.

Actually since BB moved to Channel 5 the rules have mostly gone out of the window.The last lot of contestants in the BB house got away with so much that wouldn’t have been allowed on Channel 4. I still don’t like the fact that they are allowed to discuss nominations. But if they do, at least make them do it face to face every time.

My money goes on Michael first of all Fudge, it is a game but even so to begin with the twins thought of Denise as mother. They havent once nominated her. Their view changed because of something this last week, cant remember what it was now. They discuss things together because they are one vote, they work it all out, they naturally want to win the same as everyone else. They have played a good game.
They do have a lot of support in some of the forums. Dont know which way it swings now though. They are all in danger of going on Wednesday, I think it is quite close but having said that I do not really understand all the odds.

The Americans were great, without them the show would have been just a load of so called Brit celebrities with great egos. They all had egos admittedly otherwise they wouldnt have been chosen to go in there but to divide the two is wrong. BB know what they are doing with their choice of candidates.

Poor Michael Madson, the reputation of a whole country on his shoulders! Generalisations are always a bad idea. To be honest I thought Michael was very restrained. Denise was an awful woman when drunk, and then tried to justify her behaviour when sober. The twins and Nicola did her a favour when they ganged up on her, because that’s when the tide turned for Denise. The British generally love the underdog and that’s how they began to view her, not as the egoist, who can’t hold her drink, that she really is.
Maybe as well Jenny when she looks back over and sees how things have gone, she will think about it and go and get some help. It will be interesting to see if there will be any fall out with it all. Everybody will see it the way they want to but when Gareth had his arm around Michael, I saw it as him being friendly, Michael hadnt said a word then and Denise was slagging him off at the table. I was pleased that Gareth did that tbh. It is a wonder Michael didnt get up and walk out, he didnt have to take her abuse.
Hi Jules, yes I agree. And as I said he’s been remarkably restrained. I couldn’t have stood being in the same house as her for so long. Mind you the twins would have irritated me beyond belief also, and don’t get me started on Nicola!!

Jenny and Jules, in light of todays revelations in the Mirror and 3 other papers, Michael probably was right to take cover!! When she went out to the “dentist”, it is thought she was probably being advised about this story breaking.
Do you think so Anonymous, she could have heard tidbits inbetween because she would have seen her friends and family. Sadly though Michael got the brunt of her tongue and her criticisms of him with Emma. No matter whether we like him or not (pssssst I DO
) we have to look at a fairer side in light of everything which has been said. She tried to deflect the negativity onto Michael. He reacted but who can blame him.
My fear and concern for her has been the aftermath of what she did in making herself the victim. How will she be able to live with herself. Her marriage sounds horrendous with the abuse by her and then her husband throwing water over her. I wonder who let the story out? Shame it didnt come out before. As is being said in the forums the majority had judged the twins and Michael. Oh that they had known.
Mind you everyone likes a fight night!!! LOL. Well lets hope she gets help before she goes through anymore toyboys, hope she accepts her age and that we all have to get old but we deal with it. She doesnt have to be the centre of attraction.
ps the more I think about it the more it makes sense but she took all of her anger out on Michael.

Just wonder how it was kept secret until after she won!! Sorry, those who support her, but she really has not behaved well. All that talk about ‘ dont call me a liar’……and her beloved husband.
